UU Quote of the week

"Between the intimate world of blood-ties and the fee-for-service professionals to whom people today often turn for assistance we find religious associations—communities of succor and support that too often are underappreciated and thus underutilized."

Rev. Michael Schuler, First Unitarian Society of Madison, 08/16/09

  1. I love Rev. Schuler. He is a very wise man and a great UU minister, one of our best.

  2. With all due respect to Rev. Schuler, good churches offer more than succor and support, they are spiritual forces to be reckoned with facilitating positive transformations in their community. If there is a UU church in your community what difference, if any, would people say that it makes?

The church is not family but a fellowship of like minded people who covenant to support one another in life's struggles and joys and milestones.

Here's hoping that your emerging congregation can become that for you. Our world needs more of that mutual support and respect. May God bless what you are tying to do.
