Prophetic voices and events - Trump the new Herod attacking the innocents

Today, December 28, is the feast of the Holy Innocents. It is the day that we remember that Herod ordered the killing of all male children under 2 in Bethlehem. This story is told in Matthew 2:16.

It seems terrible and something that happened 2,000 years ago. But then I read what the Trump administration is doing in the New York Times on 12/21/17 in an article entitled, Trump Administration Considers Separating Families to Combat Illegal Immigration

"The Trump administration is considering a plan to separate parents from their children when families are caught entering the country illegally, according to officials who have been briefed on the plans. The forceful move is meant to discourage border crossings, but immigrant groups have denounced it as draconian and inhumane."

Not so different. Trump is the new Herod.

  1. My neighbor, a Trump supporter and an evangelical Christian, said she was shocked to learn what Trump was doing to the children taking them away from their parents whose biggest crime is trying to make a better life for them. "I never thought of President Trump as King Herod before, but I get the analogy. I was all for the wall, but this is going too far."

  2. Herod's motivation for the killing is that the Three Wise Men told him a King had been born and they were going to visit him. Herod became alarmed and afraid that this new King would take over this throne so he intended to eliminate the threat, national security, he called it.

Trump and his ilk also fear the newcomers. They fear being pushed aside and replaced. National security, once again, is the rationalization for discrimination and attack. It's interesting how nothings changed. Makes me very sad and disappointed for my countrymen.

  3. Who was it that said, "power corrupts and absolute power corrupts absolutely?" The world of the ego is hell on earth, the quest for power to enhance one's ego is the deepest hell of all. We are watching this morality play in our daily news. I have had to limit my media diet because a soul can only take so much depravity without being lost. I imagine the Universe laughing to itself saying, "Will they ever learn?"
