After the
dawning, the turning occurs which leads to the search. The person searching
often describes themselves as “spiritual” but no longer “religious.” This
awareness takes the individual on what has been described as a path that is:
- Scientific
- Rational
- Atheistic
- Mystical

The correct answer is #4 mystical. As Francis David the Unitarian founder said, "We need like think alike to love alike," the path of the mystic, whatever the religious tradition which has formed him/her is after the experience of the Divine. The mystic knows that this experience is not to be found in forms but in an intuitive apprehension which comes from within not from without. The path of the mystic is a path of internal awareness and not external perceptions.
